Bulimia is akin to alcoholism
September 30, 2014. Scientists from Australia have come to interesting conclusions as a result of the study.
Australian scientists from the Institute of Medical Research in Klivslende found that eating disorders have the same roots as alcoholism. That is the conclusion they came from surveys 6000 razno- and identical twins.
It was found that the tendency to eating disorders and alcoholism have the same nature: both disorders are transmitted to descendants inherited. That is, bulimia (overeating and recurrent attacks of gluttony) and alcoholism are largely hereditary, and not acquired. For bulimia genetic predisposition has a value of 83% and for alcohol - in 50-74% of cases.
