Stewed with tomatoes and onions herring
300 g herring
2-4 tomato
1 onions
3-4 tbsp. vegetable oil
lemon juice or vinegar (to taste)
Herring soak, then cut, cut into small pieces, put in a greased dish in a row, put the tomatoes and onions, cut into circles.
On top lay a second row of herring, then tomatoes and onions.
Fill the dish with vegetable oil to make it cover 2/3 of the fish, add the vinegar or lemon juice, cover and simmer herring until tender over medium heat.
Served stewed with tomatoes and onions herring both hot and cold.
