Ham soup with vegetables "in Spanish"
450 g smoked ham
400 g canned beans
150 g lettuce
4 potato tuber
2 onions
1 bay leaves
2 h. l. ground paprika
1.5 l water
ground black pepper
salt
Chop onion rings, fill it with ham water and bring to a boil. Cook over moderate heat for about 1.5 hours until the meat softens. A few minutes before end of cooking, add the bay leaf, then remove the ham and broth.
Remove excess fat from ham and skin, cut it into small pieces, put back into the pot, add coarsely chopped potatoes and paprika, cover and cook for 10 minutes on low heat.
Drain the liquid from the beans, chopped lettuce leaves into strips, add them to the soup, pepper and salt, and cook for another 10 minutes.
Submit the soup to the table hot.
