Onion soup with ham
700 g onions
350 g tomatoes
150 g ham
2-3 basil leaves
6 Art. l. grated hard cheese
2 Art. l. olive oil
1 Art. l. butter

Scald and peel tomatoes, cut them into slices.
Cut the ham into strips, put on a heated pan, will begin as soon as the fat drips out, reduce the heat and add the butter and olive oil, sugar and onions, sliced rings, mix. Fry with constant stirring for 10 minutes until golden brown onions.
Combine onion and ham and tomatoes, pour the hot chicken broth, bring to a boil, stirring constantly, then cover and cook for 30 minutes over low heat. A few minutes before the end of cooking the soup with salt and pepper, add the chopped basil.
Before serving, sprinkle with cheese soup and place basil.
