Fruit juices destroy tooth enamel
Dentists claim that children who consume a large amount of fruit juice a day, often before other face dental problems. Parents consciously regularly give their children fruit juices, unaware of the long-term impact on the child's enamel.
According to the Dean of the faculty of dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) Kathy Harley, half of the surveyed 5-year-old children were found to have signs of wear of the tooth enamel (this can lead to tooth decay). Tooth erosion caused by acid found especially in citrus juices.
Besides the fact that fruit juices contain a range of vitamins that are beneficial to health, they are also distinguished by high content of natural sugar, which leads to the destruction of the teeth. So Harley offers parents to give their children fruit juice once a week as a treat.
The British national health service recommends that only one 150ml glass of fruit juice a day, which is the recommended daily dose of vitamins. The juice is good to drink after a meal to reduce the risk of damage to teeth.
Last year the Royal College of Surgeons conducted a study, which was attended by 1000 people aged from 18 to 30 years. It was found that consumption of Apple stronger effect on dental health than fizzy drinks because of the high content of acid in it.
Experts recommend to continue to eat the fruit, but after each use to wash it down with water to wash away the acid or eat a product containing calcium, such as cheese, which neutralizes the acid.
An important factor for the stability of dental caries is the inclusion in the diet of calcium-containing products - sesame seeds, hard cheeses, cottage cheese and all dairy products. However, the main cause of caries remains improper oral hygiene. Brushing your teeth two times a day for at least 2-3 minutes.
